A mid-20th century Italian 18 carat gold mounted sterling silver and enamel compact, Firenze 1935-44, makers numeral obscured

Of elongated octagonal form, the lid with enamel painted to resemble lapis lazuli with an engraved chevron edge, the centre mounted with a textured gold leaf. The interior with a mirror. Stamped to the interior with STERLING 925, Italian assay mark and 750 in a lozenge for the mount.
