AN EGYPTIAN ALABASTER HEADREST Old Kingdom, Circa 2686 - 2181 B.C. Formed of attractive banded alabaster, composed of four elements, standing on a rectangular base, with a fluted column tapering upwards, supporting the rectangular abacus and upward-curving oval pillow, 17.8cm high, 15.5cm diameter.  Provenance: Collection of Renée Withofs (1919-1997) Brussels, acquired in the middle of the last century; with Harmarkhis gallery; Private collection of a lady, Rome, acquired prior to 2006.
