AN ENGRAVED COPPER BOWL WITH ANIMAL DECORATION
Possibly late Safavid Iran or Deccan, Central India, 18th century
Of typical compressed rounded shape, resting on a convex plain base, rising to a flared neck and everted circular rim, the engraved body enhanced with two horizontal registers featuring wild animals encased within cusped cartouches interspersed amidst arabesque medallions, vegetal trellis, split palmette scrolls and floral decoration, a knotwork fretwork band around the rim, 19.5cm high and 30cm diam.
