A NEAR PAIR OF SWEETMEAT SILVER DISHES WITH LION HANDLES
Calcutta (Kolkata), West Bengal, India, 19th century

Comprising a silver dish worked in the shape of a stylised palmette or chinar leaf, with a curved lion handle to the side and a fine repoussé Indian village scene in the centre, 17.5cm x 13.5cm; and a similar dish with a repoussé hunting scene, 18cm x 13.8cm, one 175g the other 150g.
