Lot 480 - Music Interest.-  Autograph letter signed...

Music Interest.-  Autograph letter signed ('Ernest Ansermet'), reading in part "I am afraid we cannot go to Edinburgh in the conditions you can propose. We had to ask to the Geneva's authorities a substantial augmentation of their subsidies for the salaries of the players so that we cannot come for the moment with another request for propaganda purposes. We cannot also ask a subsidy, like the last time, to "Pro Helvetia" (corrisponding to your British Council) because they would not give a subsidy twice to the same Swiss orchestra and they would impose us Swiss works and Swiss soloists which not be interesting for you [...] If you see the possibility to gibe the Spring Symphony with an English orchestra under my conducting, I would be glad to do it and we could examine the idea", four pages, punch holes to left margins, light yellowing, 8vo, Montecatini Terme, 22 June 1955; with original pen and ink caricature of tconductor, Karl Böhm, signed and inscribed "To David, Karl Böhm" in blue ink, 30 x 21.5 cm; autograph letter signed ('V. Once the first performance is over, I will make sure to pay a visit to the Club and to thank you all out loud", three pages, losses to lower left corner and right margin slightly affecting the text, tape residue, unevenness of toning to last page, 8vo, Broadway 142, 31 December 1898; with another autograph letter signed by Maurel, confirming his wish to hear a tenor the day after, 4to, n.d.; autograph letter signed ('Ponchard'), in French, to Madame Zimmerman, reading in part "I regret that a cold that I caught since our last soiree prevents me from singing and from keeping the promise I had made to Mr Zimmerman for this evening", one page, integral address leaf, some soiling and light traces of previous mount, 8vo, 19 March, n.y.
