An early George III sterling silver hot water pot, London 1764 by David Whyte & William Holmes
Of baluster from upon a collet foot, the short spout opposite a fruitwood C scroll handle pinned to sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a wrythen finial. The body with spiral fluting and embossed tailing foliage, the spout with chased rocaille surround and a leaf form base. The lid similarly decorated. The side later engraved with a crest of a griffin's head erased per fess erminois and gu. Fully marked underneath, the lid unmarked.
