A George III sterling silver teapot on stand, London 1803 by John Emes (this mark reg. 10th Jan 1798)
The teapot of oval rounded form upon a short collet foot. The curved spout opposite a fruitwood C scroll handle pinned to tubular sockets. The upper section with a cavetto edge and a hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable ivory knop. The teapot stand of oval form with a cavetto edge with reeded rim, upon four reeded splay feet. The body with bright cut engraved decoration of trailing ferns heightened with incised bands. Each side engraved with a circular cartouche flanked by fern fronds, one with an engraved with an impaled coat of arms the other with a wolf passant, pierced through the mouth an arrow. The stand similarly decorated; the cartouche engraved with the same crest. Each fully marked, the lid with lion passant only.
