A George III sterling silver teapot on stand, London 1796 by Peter and Ann Bateman

Of oval form with reeded rims, the tapering tubular spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to sockets, the hinged domed lid above a cavetto section, surmounted by a detachable finial modelled as a gourd above a leafy calyx. Each side with a bright cut engraved with a vacant shaped shield cartouche below tied ribbon. The stand of oval form upon four reeded splay feet with a cavetto edge and reeded rim, engraved the same to field centre. Each fully marked, the lid with makers mark and lion passant only. Together with a George III silver twin handled sugar bowl, London 1800, no makers mark, of ogee form with moulded twin loop handles and a gilt interior. (3)
