A HERIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The soft rust field with large angular floral and serrated leaf vine around large indented medallion with bold pendants containing polychrome palmette cartouches enclosing large teracotta floral panel centrepiece. Ivory palmette and floral spandrels. In broad deep indigo border of polychrome palmettes, hooked leaves and angular floral vine between sandy-yellow angular floral meander and plain stripes, approx: 385cm. x 288cm. Very good type with bold design and veery good colour combination. This carpet has slight localized wear to the pile in few places on the field, otherwise good pile. Selvages original, with touches of fraying on wool in few small places. Ends with original kilim. In general this crpet is in very good usable condition. Popular type at present market. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
