19th / 20th Century.

Including four figures of female Immortals with their attributes, three small Buddhist carvings and two Japanese okimono of pheasants, each with a wood stand, largest 14cm H. (18)

Provenance: from the collection of Sheila Rosevear Urquhart (1908 – 1992), thence by descent to the present owner. The memoires are published as Sheila Unrquhart,2009, Sons of Heaven and document her time in China from her birth until she moved to Burma with her husband in 1932. They also include her own drawings based the Chinese art collection she amassed and are a touching portrait of an upbringing immersed in Chinese culture in the early 20th Century.
