A pair of George III sterling silver telescopic candlesticks, Sheffield 1800 by George Ashforth & Co

Of hollow circular form with a half-fluted base, plain cylindrical columns with functioning extending section, leading to a fluted capital, fitted with removable circular sconces. The bases engraved with a laurel wreath cartouche to each side, one engraved with a crest of an eagle’s head erased. Each fully marked to the sides, also struck PATENT, once scone with part-marks the other unmarked. (2)
