A Queen Anne Britannia standard silver coffee pot, London 1703 by George Lewis (reg. 22 Dec 1699)

Of tapering cylindrical lighthouse form, the curved spout with a hinged end cap, the junction with applied cut card work, the ebonised fruit wood handle at a right angle to the spout pinned to tubular sockets with cut card work junctions, the hinged domed lid surmounted by a ball finial raised by a twin scroll thumbpiece. The front engraved with a second-quarter 18th century quartered coat of arms with a baronet’s escutcheon all held within Baroque scrolls with fish scale reserves. Fully marked to the right of the handle and the lid with a lion’s head erased only to flange, the spout cover unmarked.
