TWO POLYCHROME-PAINTED ENAMELLED GOLD PENDANTS WITH FEMALE PORTRAITS
Qajar Iran, 19th century

Comprising two gold-sheet pendants in the shape of a cusped palmette or escutcheon, each caparisoned on the lower border with seed pearls and with a small hoop at the top, the pendant with a gold chainlet and hook at the top decorated with a classical Mother and Daughter composition in polychromes, both female characters wearing several strands of pearl and gem necklaces and showcasing quintessential features of Qajar beauty standards, the latter with a Qajar maiden's portrait wearing encrusted bazubands and aigrette, the back of the first with plain turquoise enamel, the latter with a polychrome-painted enamelled floral bouquet of pink roses and blue daisies, respectively 3.8cm and 4.2cm long, together 14gr.
