Curtis-Bennett (Noel) The Food of the People, being the History of Industrial Feeding, first edition, deluxe limited edition, numbered 8/100 on presentation bookplate, signed and dated by the author on title page, light occasional foxing, red crushed morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, gilt lettering to spine, gilt monogram to front cover, marbled endpapers, a.e.g., 8vo, Faber & Faber, 1949; also including: a typed letter from the Duke of Windsor ('Edward') to Sir Noel Curtis-Bennett, saying in part "It has only just occurred to me that I have never written to tahnk you for sending me your book, 'The Food of the People', which I received before leaving La Croe early in September. The Duchess and I were in the throes of packing up the house at the time, and since then we have been travelling to Italy. I am afraid, therefore, that my correspondence has suffered somewhat from these distractions. Please, however, be assured how much I appreciate your sending me the book. I have already found that it contains much data of absorbing interest on a subject over which I used to be much concerned", one page, folding marks, 4to, 85, Rue de la Faisanderie, Paris, 17 October, 1949; typed letter to Curtis-Bennett from Sir Thomas Lascelles, Private Secretary to King George VI, reding "I have now laid before The King, on his return from Sandringham, the copy of 'The Food of the People'...The King is very glad indeed to have this interesting book", one page, 4to, Buckingham Palace, 17 November 1949; typed letter to Sir Noel from George Duke of Kent, thanking the recipient for his "kind message of congratulations" with handwritten addition "I am delighted with my son and he is charming", one page, tape to the reverse, folding marks, 8vo, 3 Belgrave Square, 10 October 1935 (4)
