The dark, sardonic humour that permeates British visual artist David Shrigley's artwork draws attention to the ridiculousness of our common hopes and concerns. In addition to creating sculptures and videos, he also writes books and conducts "public interventions" that he later photographs. His most well-known work is undoubtedly his drawings, which are easily recognisable due to their purposefully crude, infantile appearance. Shrigley is well-known for never drawing the same item twice; because his drawings are shown or published exactly as Shrigley originally sketched them, they frequently have missing letters and other typos. In addition to being displayed in art galleries, his illustrations have been featured in publications, record covers, and greeting cards, among other popular media.
