Notes:

“It is interesting to note that there is evidence that he received the commissions for the annual presentation dish given by the Jewish congregation of Bevis Marks to the Lord Mayor, which had earlier been made by John Ruslen (q.v.) and that the latter's address was also Swithin Lane. There seems a strong possibility therefore that Hill was Ruslen's successor (but see Thomas Hill, below). His mark is comparatively rarely found and usually on pieces of some merit. It may be that he was basically a banker- goldsmith undertaking occasional commissions such as the Jewish dishes.” (Grimwade p. 546)

Estimated at £6,000 - £8,000
