Horse Riding interest – A George IV sterling silver kettle on stand, London 1825, the kettle by Benjamin Smith
Of rounded circular form upon a stepped circular foot. A curved spout below an opposable chased foliate handle with a carved ivory centre. The stand upon three scroll legs with leafy junctions and open work chased foliage and C scroll aprons, the centra holding a fixed spirit burner with pull off lid. The body with embossed decoration of horses with riders and hounds in pursuit, all above embossed acanthus leaves. The upper section with chased trailing foliage and a hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable flower finial, above an acanthus leaf calyx. Fully marked underneath kettle, the lid and finials part-marked. The stand fully marked underneath for Richard Sibley, the burner lid marked to the bezel.
