Grove (George, Sir) A collection of letters to Mr and Mrs Poole, including: typed letter to ‘Mrs Poole’ that reads in part “I congratulate you on your discovery of what was completely hidden from me: the Benecke really has a desire to be drawn by one artist rather than another! It is characteristic of him to have kept this secret. Of course if he wishes to be drawn by Will Rothenstein he shall be…’, signed ‘George Grove’, slight spotting, 4to, mailing folds, 26 October, 1932; Another autograph letter addressed to ‘Dear Poole’ reads in part “I look to you to do Thomas Schule for me, and should be glad to have it in the course of a month or so…”, 8vo, 2 pages, slight offsetting, mailing folds, August 1st 1883; another reads in part “forgive me for leaving you so long in the cold. I shall be very glad to have Swalinck but cannot give you more than a column from him; that however will carry your initials, which will gratify us both…” 1 page, November 21st 1881; and others including a collection of carte de visits (quantity)
