PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 19th century

Comprising two square-shaped pottery tiles, the smaller moulded and underglaze painted in cobalt blue, manganese brown, turquoise and light pink with black outlines all on white ground, presenting a female musician playing a setar for a gentleman, a building in the background amongst flowers and tufts of grass, 17.5cm x 18cm; and the larger tile decorated in the cuerda seca technique, painted in yellow, manganese, turquoise and cobalt blue, depicting a lady knelt in a garden amongst trees and flowers, her left arm outstretched and holding a cup, set within a brown and turquoise border, 20.4cm x 20.4cm.
