Ecclesiastical - A Charles II unmarked silver recusant altar cruet, circa 1670

Of rounded form upon a domed spreading circular foot, the panel section spout opposite a C scroll handle with moulded upper section leading to a hinged domed lid raised by a plain concave disc thumbpiece. The foot and lid with embossed decoration of foliate scrolls heightened with prick dot decoration. The sides of body with later 19^th century flat chased decoration of rocaille C scrolls and flower heads reserved with latticework, one side with traced of engraved Christogram within a sun cartouche IHS. The top of the lid deficient of finial and no engraved with a later crest of a dexter hand holding five arrows in bend sinister with the motto above Be Mindful To Unite.
