An early 19th century American silver teapot, Philadelphia circa 1810 by Joseph Lownes (1758–1820)
Of shaped ogee rectangular form upon a waisted gadrooned foot, a panelled curved spout opposite a reeded wooden handle pinned to rectangular sockets, the hinged domed lid surmounted by a panelled urn finial. A panel of engraved decoration of trailing fern leaves. Marked twice underneath with J.Lownes and two sun marks.
