With an ovoid body painted with two panels of scenes from The Romance of the Western Chamber, the first one illustrating the young Cui Ying Ying kneeling before her mother, begging for the approval of a marriage to a young scholar the girl loves, the other a private Buddhist ceremony, the cover with a concave centre and a lotus bud finial decorated with a young lady served a cup of tea by a young boy, 21.5cm H.
