Collection of autograph and typed letters signed ('Stamfordham') written in his capacity as Private Secretary to King George V, comprising: thirteen letters to Cannon Sheppard on various religious matters, v.s., 3 January 1912-13 April 1921; eleven letters to Sir Frederick Milner, regarding the political situation and the war ("It is splendid the way the Country is united under the momentous crisis of the war" 10 August 1914; "These are anxious days and the fall of Antwerp is unfortunate. However Sir John French is in the best of spirit and full of confidence These heavy siege guns have been an enormous advantage to the Germans, as unluckily neither the French nor ourselves possess any means of countering them", 11 October 1914), v.s., 10 August 1914- 24 January 1919; also including a typed letter to Lord Edmund Talbot, Deputy Earl Marshal on the opening of the Parliament, 8 February 1918.
