An Edwardian ‘Arts and Crafts’ sterling silver cigarette box, Birmingham 1903 by John William Barrett
Of rectangular form with a hinged gently domed lid with strapwork hinges and catch lock. The corners with applied plates, the sides with applied cut card work fleur-de-lis and the lid with a vacant projecting scrolling shield, otherwise with all over spot hammered decoration. The front with a ring attachment with chain and spring-loaded bolt ring. Wood lined interior base. Fully marked to the front and part-marked to the lid, also engraved to the front edge EMANUEL SOUTHAMPTON.
