A George III sterling silver provincial salt, Newcastle circa 1790 by John Langlands I & John Robertson I

Of navette form raised upon an oval pedestal base and reeded rims. The body with pierced decoration of lunettes and rosettes linked with engraved decoration of swags. Engraved with an initial M in cursive script. Fitted with a blown in removable blue glass liner. Together with a salt spoon, same maker, bright cut Old English pattern, with a vacant shield shape cartouche, spade shaped bowl. Marked underneath with makers mark, lion passant and duty mark only, the spoons marked the same.
