A very rare George II Irish provincial silver bowl, Clonmel circa 1750 by Hercules Morgan
Of rounded circular form with an everted rim, all upon a domed circular foot. Scratch weight underneath oz 14 : pwt 13. Maker’s mark only H.M.

Weight – 406 grams / 13.05 ozt
Hercules Morgan married in February 1754 Jane Terry, sister of the Cork silversmith Carden Terry. He is recorded as submitting plate for assay to Dublin in 1732, 1745 and 1752-55. A coffee pot by Hercules Morgan is known.
