Commodore Robert Lionel Brooke Cunliffe CBE (1895-1990) and by descent through the family.

According to family history, Thomas Ashton was a member of the Honourable East India Company (HEIC) who had their own army in India and he was killed at the battle of Waterloo, 18th June 1815. He was the brother of William Ashton and great grandfather of Commodore Robert Lionel Brooke Cunliffe CBE (1895-1990).
