A George III sterling silver sauce tureen, London 1795 by Samuel Godbehere and Edward Wigan
Of oval navette form upon a spreading oval reeded foot. The twin reeded loop handles leading to a pull off domed lid surmounted by an urn finial cut with a ladle aperture. The body with an applied oval patch either side, edged with bright cut decoration. The base with four notches, the lid with four notches. Fully marked underneath and to lid bezel, also with French swan guarantee mark (swan used 1893-1970).
