THREE JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS AND A PAINTING, BIJINGA.

19th Century.

Comprising: a Hishikawa Moronobu-style sumizuri-e depicting two figures on a veranda, a kisae of Mimasuya as Tokiwa Gozen from the series Gion Festival Costume Parade, Gion mikoshi arai nerimono sugata, signed Nagahide ga, published by Yamasa and Suto circa 1815-24, a later print depicting a beauty observing puppies, from the series A Mirror of Illustrious Beauties from Times Past, Volume Five, Chuko shomeika bijin kagami maki no go, signed Okyo sha, 1893, and an unsigned painting of a lady wearing a Heian-style attire, seated in a boat holding a fan and a small drum, tsuzumi, 26 x 37cm. (4)

Provenance: from the collection of Cyril and Shirley Fry, fabled dealers in watercolours and drawings for more than thirty years.
