A George III sterling silver sugar and cream basket set, London 1796 by Peter and Anne Bateman (reg. 2nd May 1791)

Graduated, each of navette form upon a stepped oval foot with reeded rims. Each with a reeded swing handle. Each with bright cut engraved decoration of foliate scrolls, rosettes and swags against a striated background, the feet with similar bright cut bands. Each fully marked underneath, the handles with lion passant only to the top of each. (2)
