A George III silver cream pail basket, London circa 1770-75 by William Plummer (reg. 8th April 1755)
Of inverted baluster form upon a spreading circular foot with a rope twist borders. The wirework body with applied die-stamped leaves and tendrils as well as rosettes with swags. An applied oval cartouche with a Roman emperor bust encircled in a laurel wreath, the opposing side with a similar vacant cartouche. The undulating shaped rim with rope twist rim leading to a swing rope twist handle. Fitted with ‘blown in’ blue glass liner. Marked to outside of foot with makers mark only four times.
