A George III sterling silver conserve pot, London 1768 by Thomas Nash (reg. Sep 1759)

Of cylindrical form with moulded edge, the body with pierced decoration of scroll work and flower heads, heightened with engraving, the S scroll handle leading to a hinged lid (pin deficient) raised by an open work chair back thumbpiece. The top of lid later engraved with a 19th century crest of issuing from ducal coronet a bull’s head. Fitted with a removable blue liner. Fully marked underneath, the lid with maker mark and lion passant only. Scratch weight underneath 9=1.
