Iran or Central Asia, 18th - 19th century

With a single-edged, slightly curved steel blade, with a thick, flattened spine, the ricasso acid-etched with cusped panels of Timurid-style interlocking rumi motif with vegetal and split palmette scrolls, the handle made of two slabs of water buffalo secured with four steel studs, the tang with a continuous vegetal spray, the low-grade silver scabbard a likely later addition and worked in repoussé with typical Balkan motifs like rosettes and foliage against a dotted ground, 36.5cm including the scabbard.
