A George III Scottish provincial gold posy ring, Inverness circa 1810 by Charles Jamieson (active 1797-1819)

Circular band, the exterior with chased decoration of foliate scrolls, the interior with engraved “God alone made us two one”. Marked with maker’s mark CJ only. Ring size O.

Weight – 2.3 grams / 0.07 ozt

A gold band for Alexander Cameron of Dundee was sold Lyon and Turnbull, 15 Aug 2018, lot 389 (£687 incl. prem) where noted “Although simple gold bands such as this example must have been in stock in trade for all silversmiths and jewellers in Scotland to find marked examples are very rare. This appears to be one of only two recorded Dundee examples.”

A silver luckenbooth brooch marked for Jamieson is in the V&A collection (accession number M.809-1926)
