Tibet, Nepal and Himalayan foothills, late 19th - 20th century

Opaque pigments on canvas, comprising two small rectangular painted icons from the Buddhist pantheon, like Vajrabhairava, the Destroyer of Death (Vajrayana Buddhism) dancing on a triangle and emanating fire; and the historical Buddha seated on a lotus throne in the act of touching the ground (bhumisparsha mudra), mounted, glazed and framed, each 8cm x 6.5cm, 18.8cm x 17.5cm including the frame.
