A George II Scottish sterling silver sauceboat, Edinburgh 1756 by Lothian & Robertson
Of inverted baluster form upon a central domed foot. An acanthus capped double C scroll fly over handle leading to a shaped rim. Engraved to each side with traces of contemporaneous initials in Scottish cursive script and to the otherside with slightly later initials. Fully marked underneath for the assayer Hugh Gordon (active 1744-58).
