Greek Ionian Islands interest - A George III Irish sterling silver twin handled cup, Dublin 1775 by Richard Tudor retailed by Matthew West
Of rounded form upon a pedestal circular foot, with twin acanthus capped scroll handles and a central girdle. The body with later embossed decoration of flower heads against a textured ground, each side with a cartouche one engraved with a presentation inscription reading ‘Corfu Races 15th July 1828, win by F.B. Knox 88 Regt, Bay Horse Vaport”, the other cartouche engraved with a crest of a sparrow-hawk perched, encircled in a Clan’s badge. Fully marked to the right of handle.
