James Mitchell (fl.1850-80) specialised in portrait busts and copies after the antique, exhibiting at the Royal Academy between 1850 and 1852 from his studio at Mount Street and later on Cheapside. His marble bust of Geoffrey Chaucer was sold at Sotheby's, London, 12 July 2005, lot 60.
