A RARE AMERICAN RURAL LANDSCAPE SCENE, c.1860s. Quarter plate, delicately hand-coloured daguerreotype, with ornate brass mat and oval aperture, some spotting to mat, housed in a brown leather side-hinged case, with ornate embossed floral design, The plate overall is well exposed and in good condition. The scene shows a building with veranda and Corinthian style columns, with trees and brush in the foreground, perhaps a working barn set behind with raised tower for cooling, possibly taken in the Southern states.
