A FINE HERIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The brick red field with angular floral and leafy vine together with serrated palmettes, around large stepped floral medallion with bold pendants containing smaller brick-red stepped floral medallion and radiating floral centerpiece. Wide ivory spandrels similar. In an indigo border of bold rosettes, hooked leaves and angular floral vine, between sandy-yellow plain stripes, approx: 387cm x 286cm. Very good example for this type, with good colour combination, bold appearence. This carpet has slight wear to the pile, down to knot collar in places, visible on close inspection. Otherwise this carpet has good pile. Ends with short fringes secured. Salvages original. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Attractive and very good furnishing piece. Popular type at present market.
