A SAFAVID BLUE AND WHITE POTTERY OIL LAMP
Kirman, Safavid Iran, 18th century

Of typical drop-like shape, with a compressed circular body clipped at the top, resting on a flat base, with an extended curved spout on one side, the top with a small circular opening in the centre, underglaze painted in cobalt blue on white, decorated with spirals around the body, possibly a Safavid interpretation of the Chinese 'rock and wave' motif, rosette petals and foliage around the circular opening on the top, 9cm x 10.5cm x 4cm.
