A George III provincial sterling silver teapot on stand, Newcastle 1809 by Dorothy Langlands (active 1804-1814)

of rounded oval form raised upon four ball feet, the panel section curved spout opposite a D section handle fitted with ivory insulators pinned too sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by detachable silver shaped finials fitted with an ivory insulator. The bod with bright cut engraved decoration of bands of trailing foliate scrolls and wrigglework. Each side with a guilloche rectangular cartouche, one engraved with contemporaneous initials JH in flourished cursive script. The teapot stand of rounded rectangular form with cavetto edge, raised on four ball feet. The field with bright cut decoration and initials en suite to the teapot. Fully marked underneath teapot, the lid, finial and handle unmarked. The teapot stand with makers mark, town mark, lion passant and duty mark only. (2)
