A LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY BRONZE FIGURE OF LORENZO DE' MEDICI, AFTER MICHELANGELO, cast by Compagnie des Bronzes de Bruxelles, depicting Lorenzo de' Medici, Duke of Urbino, in the iconic contemplative pose famously sculpted by Michelangelo for the Medici Chapel in the Basilica of San Lorenzo, Florence (circa 1524–1534). Known as "Il Pensieroso" (The Thoughtful One), Lorenzo is depicted seated, dressed in intricately detailed armor, with his hand resting thoughtfully under his chin, embodying Renaissance ideals of introspection and strength. The figure is mounted on a stepped rectangular green marble plinth. The bronze is signed "Cie des Bronzes Bruxelles", the Belgian foundry.
