An Anglo Indian coromandel work box, circa 1870, of fluted serpentine form with brass mounts, opening to reveal a fitted interior of tray and lidded compartments, two set with tortoiseshell, the remainder with stained red and black foliate engraved ivory lids, a fitted bobbin compartment, all above a further fitted section of specimen hardwoods with ebony stringing, the lid inlaid with a central elephant motif amidst radiating specimen woods and feather banding divisions.
