A RARE COMMEMORATIVE JUG IN THE FORM OF 'FIGHTING MAC'

the plain commerorative jug depicting Major General Sir Hector Archibald, inscribed 'Fighting Mac',

25cm high

'Fighting Mac' as he was known, was the hero of the Battle of Omdurman in 1898. He was well known and admired, until in 1903 he was to face a Court Martial for homosexuality. He tragically committed suicide in Paris before the trial. His body was returned to Scotland and quietly buried.
