A LEATHER AND ENGRAVED SILVER KOHL FLASK
Possibly Central Asia or Tibet, late 19th century
Of compressed circular shape, imitating the design and style of earlier leather Pilgrim's flasks, rising to a short tapering silver neck worked in a floral design, the stopper attached to the kohl measuring spoon and tied with a leather strap to the side, the body made of two hemispherical parts, one of silver and engraved with floral designs and vegetal trellis, the latter of leather and decorated with applied repoussé silver animals and concentric beading bands, the central boss encrusted with a red bead, mounted on a metal stand, 13.8cm high including the stopper.
