SIX SMALL SILVER DRINKING CUPS AND A SILVER ENGRAVED EWER
Iran, first half 20th century
Comprising a set of six small drinking cups, each with an egg-like head resting on a thin twisted stem on a circular, gently splayed foot, the exterior engraved with arabesques, intertwined vegetal tendrils, rosette bunches and stylised lotus flowers, each 8cm high; and a silver ewer, of bulbous shape resting on a flat circular base, rising to a tall and narrow tubular neck, with a curved dragon-headed handle on one side and a bulbous stopper, the exterior with similar decoration to the cups enhanced with repoussé cusped medallions with birds, 22.5cm high, the six cups 272g together, the ewer weighing 319g.
