OPEN FACE VERGE POCKET WATCH
Late 18th century Swiss gold cased pocket watch, Geneva circa 1790
White porcelain signed dial, black Roman numerals, black outer minute division, gilt hands, aperture for key at the 2 o'clock position.
The reverse has a three-colour chased gold scene of a buck pursued by a hound, against trees and a water fountain on a sablé ground, reserved within a herringbone border with re-entrant corners heightened with incised lines, all against an engine turned ground with stylised floral sprays edged with a border of polished running bell flowers interspaced with lozenges against a sablé ground. Unmarked, the crown stamped with incuse numerals 7 and 6 only.
