A mid-19th century Greek silver filigree basket, Athens circa 1850 marked KANAS
Of shaped scalloped oval form upon a domed oval base raised by four cast lion paw and rosette scroll bracket feet. The filigree sides with applied bosses, a detachable central divider with an applied boss engraved with initials I Δ, all surmounted by a bird. The base with a die-rolled edge of foliate forms. Traces of gilding. Marked underneath KANAΣ and ΑΘΗΝΑΙ and twice with numerals 14.
