AN ENGRAVED SILVER FOOTED SERVING DISH
Iran, late 19th - early 20th century

The dish of shallow circular shape, with an everted cusped rim, resting on a flared stepped foot on an octagonal pedestal, the dish finely engraved with typical Qajar and Pahlavi silver motifs including rosette medallions filled with intertwined split palmette trellis and arabesques, floral bouquets, rose festoons and vegetal decoration against a ring-punched ground, the similarly decorated foot enhanced with a band of repoussé birds surrounded by roses and vegetal stems, the base of the dish stamped '84' on the reverse, 27cm diam. and 12.3cm high, weighs 562g.
